The COHE website was conceived, designed, programmed, and implemented entirely by the staff of the Institute for Humanist Studies (IHS). It is hosted on the Institute's Humanists.net server as part of the IHS Humanist Internet Project.
Content: All original course content was written by COHE faculty: IHS Executive Director Matt Cherry, IHS Public Policy Director Tim Gordinier, Ph.D., IHS Associate Director Mary Ellen Sikes, and internationally renowned course authors under contract to the Institute.
The Humanist Manifestoes linked from some modules are provided courtesy of the American Humanist Association. The Amsterdam Declaration is likewise republished courtesy of the International Humanist and Ethical Union.
Programming: Website development, hosting, and maintenance of the COHE website has been the privilege of the IHS technical staff: August E. Brunsman IV, Web/database Programmer and Mary Ellen Sikes, Web Analyst and IHS Associate Director. HTML code was developed in EditPlus and Notepad. MySQL databases, PHP, and Javascript are utilized for interaction in the areas of registration and enrollment, logins, quiz grading, a customized content management system, and more. The tech staff wishes to acknowledge the valuable assistance of D. J. Gregor of the Secular Student Alliance (SSA), whose pro bono server advice has made for stronger IHS technology all around.
Testing: During the development phase, testing of the site was done by IHS staff. We are grateful to our many beta testing volunteers who helped us run COHE through a vigorous final workout in preparation for its public debut. If only we could mention each one individually. COHE was tested in Internet Explorer, Netscape, and Opera.
Graphics: COHE banner graphics were developed in-house using Paint Shop Plus and the daVinci font. We are indebted to Brian Underwood of the Secular Student Alliance (SSA) for his willing and competent technical assistance in this area. Without him, there wouldn't be a single transparent image on the site.
All graphics on the COHE site which are not the property of IHS are believed to be copyright-free, in the public domain, or gratefully reproduced with permission (implied or specific) from the sources credited below.
